About Dr. Butner

Dr. Butner is a professor of physics and astronomy at James Madison University, and he has been the Dark Night Sky teacher for the Virginia Summer Residential Governor's School for Math, Science, and Technology every summer for the past 20 years. He makes class time very fun and enjoyable for all, and challenges us intellectually by giving us real world astrophysics problems. He's a teacher whose lessons are both figuratively and literally out of this world.
